🌊 1. Johnny Cay Natural Regional Park — A Tiny Island Paradise

Just a short boat ride from San Andrés town, Johnny Cay is a tiny, picture-perfect coral island surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise waters and framed by coconut palms. The island is a protected natural park, home to hundreds of iguanas that roam freely among the visitors. The snorkeling around Johnny Cay is outstanding — coral gardens teeming with colorful fish, sea turtles, and rays. It’s the quintessential Caribbean island experience and one of the most photographed spots in Colombia.

🎨 2. Mar de Siete Colores — The Sea of Seven Colors

The Mar de Siete Colores (Sea of Seven Colors) is San Andrés’ most iconic and photographed natural wonder — and one of the most beautiful coastal phenomena in the world. The shallow coral reefs create an extraordinary palette of blues and greens in the water, ranging from deep navy to the palest aquamarine. The best viewing point is from the rocks near La Piscinita and from the water itself while snorkeling. Visit around sunset when the colors become even more spectacular and the light turns everything golden.

💦 3. The Blowhole — Nature’s Own Water Show

On the wild eastern side of San Andrés, the Blowhole (El Hoyo Soplador) is one of the island’s most dramatic natural attractions. Centuries of ocean waves have carved a hole through the coral rock, and as waves crash in from the Caribbean Sea, water shoots high into the air through the opening — sometimes reaching 20 meters. The timing and height of the jets varies with the tide and wind, making each visit unique. It’s a thrilling spectacle of nature’s raw power on this otherwise tranquil island.

🏛️ 4. La Casa Museo Isleña — The Island’s Cultural Soul

For visitors who want to go beyond the beaches and understand the unique culture and history of San Andrés, La Casa Museo Isleña is essential. The museum preserves the fascinating story of the island’s indigenous Raizal people — descendants of English Puritans, African slaves, and Caribbean indigenous groups — who developed their own distinct language (Creole English), music, and traditions. The collection includes historical documents, photographs, traditional crafts, and artifacts that bring the island’s complex multicultural heritage to life.

🏡 5. Coralina Old House — Colonial History Preserved

The Coralina Old House (Casa Vieja Coralina) is one of San Andrés’ most charming historic buildings — a beautifully preserved colonial home dating back to the late 19th century, once belonging to the island’s French colonial settlers. Today it’s open to visitors and houses a collection of antique furniture, period documents, and artwork that give a fascinating glimpse into life on the island a century ago. The architecture itself is a highlight — a rare surviving example of Caribbean colonial domestic design.
